ECOTARIUM AWARDED AUTISM WELCOMING STATUS AFTER TRAINING BY AUTISM ALLIANCE

Worcester, MA, May 5, 2025 – The EcoTarium is pleased to announce it has partnered with the Autism Alliance, a program of Advocates, to become an Autism Welcoming and sensory responsive business, to better serve individuals with autism and their families and caregivers.

“We are very excited to share that we have offered this company-wide training as an initiative promoted by our DEIA Committee. Becoming an Autism Welcoming business allows our employees to further provide exceptional customer service to all our guests”, said Maggie McIsaac, Human Resources Manager at the EcoTarium.

Autism Alliance trained EcoTarium’s staff to provide accommodations that allow people with autism and their families to have an inclusive and positive experience when visiting.

“The partnership between the Autism Alliance and local businesses increases quality of life for family caregivers and their loved ones with autism, and creates a welcoming, inclusive community for all,” says Jeffrey Keilson, Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning at Advocates.

Autism Welcoming businesses make simple but impactful accommodations to their locations to better serve guests with autism and sensory sensitivities. Employees are trained to direct guests to the services offered, such as making sensory kits available at the EcoTarium’s Information Desk. Additional information can be found on the EcoTarium website, including a graphic map for guests and narrative and social stories so guests can plan their visits accordingly.

For visitors seeking a quieter experience, they can plan a visit during the EcoTarium’s off-peak hours: Tuesday through Friday, between early afternoon and closing (1:30 PM – 5:00 PM).
