Looking for a chance to perfect your mud pie? Not bugged by bugs? Or maybe fossils or feathers tickle your fancy. Either way, you will have a BLAST(-off) at one (or all!) of our summer events.
Celebrate each day with educator-lead programs, hands-on drop-in activities, and community partners!
Explore the hidden world of insects on Insect Day! Did you know that almost half of known animal species are insects? We think that’s something to celebrate! Embrace the things that bug you as we identify these amazing creatures up close, learn fun facts, and dress up in costumes!
All summer events are included with admission!
Special Guest: The Caterpillar Lab!

We are excited to host The Caterpillar Lab on Insect Day again this year with free explorations that allow you to experience the incredible world of New England caterpillars. This drop-in program will feature plenty to see and touch about a variety of local caterpillar species. Educators from The Caterpillar Lab will teach all about metamorphosis and tell incredible true stories about these creatures’ strange and surprising adaptations, whether that means camouflaging like twigs and snakes or stinging with spines and baubles. Stay for a few minutes or stay for an hour: You’re sure to see something new about these little-seen native creatures who munch on the plants right before your eyes.
Want to beat the crowds? Caterpillar Lab will also join us on Friday, July 11!
